~stand together~

When we are talking about a multiracial but harmonious country, we can say Malaysia is one of that kind. However, this condition is so vulnerable that any distraction could cause disaster, just like what happened on 13 May 1969. Why is it that so?

When I first came to United States, I thought United States, dubbed as 'Melting Pot', is a heavily discriminative country. I was wrong. So far, I have never seen racial quarrel here. However, what I notice is the bond between races is still not strong enough as if the American itself build on only one race. Generally, every person is more comfortable to mingle around their own race. Somehow this situation reminds me on Malaysia. In Malaysia, Malay is just among Malays, Chinese more around Chinese, and so forth. I'm not saying all of us is like that, but you must be agree that at least we have that feeling, right?


Thus, the recent conflict, about the usage of the name of Allah worries me a lot. It is so easy to break the tolerance we have made in our country. The cutting-edge media technology makes this nasty possibility become possible. I afraid that once I come back home, I would be surprised by how things change for worse. For now, I can just observe my lovely country from far, without any power to exert other than the Internet.

What to do then? Even a nine years old kid can answer this. Buy ice-cream. Play masak-masak. Anything as long as it's good and routine. Don't bother with those defamation and provocative assertion. It wastes your time, and the worst, wastes your future.
